ELI Writing Mentorship

Cultivating Sustainable Writing Habits

This program is intended to provide ongoing academic writing support to a selective, interdisciplinary cohort of international/multilingual scholars throughout the full academic year. At the end of the mentorship, participants will be able to set reasonable goals and plan out a strategy for completing thesis work and other significant writings in an organized and timely manner.

From the beginning of the program, participants work closely with the moderator and in groups focusing on strategies for best writing practices and providing each other with accountability as they face the ever-changing challenges and evolving complexity of writing projects that their academic careers require.

Cultivating Sustainable Writing Habits is a year-long mentorship.

At the end of the academic year, students will:

  • Utilize a wide range of writing strategies including freewriting, journaling, peer reviewing.
  • Set reasonable goals and plan out a strategy to complete their thesis and other writing for their courses in an organized and timely manner.
  • Develop habits involving a regular writing schedule, increasing the amount of time each week that they spend writing while making that writing time more efficient.
  • Experience less anxiety and more confidence in their writing.

Over the course of this one-year long mentorship, students will meet as a cohort for 3 workshops per quarter, along with multiple one-on-one consultations with the instructor.
